Kaoru Mitoma to Arsenal is closer than ever

Kaoru-Mitoma-to-Arsenal

Arsenal have been vying for the Japanese winger for quite sometime now and may finally reap the rewards of their persevered journey. Kaoru Mitoma has caught the eyes of top clubs in very short span of time with Arsenal being on top of the transfer list alongside other Premier League giants.

The Gunners do have an added advantage of having Mitoma’s national compatriot Tomiyasu in their team which will only make the forward settle down in a new team comparatively easier than he would have to in other teams. Even if it was not for Tomiyasu, Arsenal would still have gone all in for Mitoma after a few recent events unfolding at Brighton. But Arsenal better use their secret weapon in Tomiyasu who gets along with Mitoma in the national team as well.

The Seagulls have just roped in a £30 million forward in Joao Pedro from Watford. The 21-year-old has been exemplary for Watford in the left flank and his capability to play in that position will only allow Arsenal a way to poach in for the Japanese winger who was “claimed to be unavailable” in this transfer market by Brighton.

We can call Brighton being notoriously ahead on the transfer market but at their own cost? Well, whatever Brighton seems to be doing for the last one year has been a Midas like decision which eventually finds gold in the end. Be it selling Trossard for that matter. When the forward was sold to Arsenal after having a stupendous season, we thought that Brighton’s downwall was near. But it was not the case; the Tyneside team only knows one way forward and that is up top.

Pinning in Joao Pedro may well be their cushion for Mitoma but does that matter to Arsenal? The Gunners will only increase their pursuit in getting the Japanese international to their dressing room and making the attacking third stronger.

With the Champions League spot wrapped up for next season, Mikel Arteta would not want to lose the 25-year-old Gunner (too early to claim him one) who has outcast the big names of Jadon Sancho or Phil Foden this season.
