Mesut Ozil MISSING as Arsenal squad arrive via private jet for Manchester United clash

MESUT OZIL looks set to miss Arsenal’s clash against Manchester United tonight as the midfield maestro was not spotted with his team-mates this afternoon.

Arsenal squad arrived in Manchester for tonight’s clash against Man Utd via private jet just hours ahead of kick-off. They were forced to sit in traffic for about an hour before finally making it to the team hotel.

Arsenal had their star-studded squad with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Lucas Torreira and Aaron Ramsey among the players who stepped off with the coach leading the line, but Mesut was not present with his mates and he looks all set to miss his third game on the trot.

The World Cup winner was an unused substitute, couple of weeks back when Arsenal visited the Dean Court.

Ozil’s last appearance for Arsenal dates back to 11th November when they drew 1-1 against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Unai Emery claims Mesut is struggling with back spasm, though his continued absence has raised speculations.

And ESPN FC pundit Shaka Hislop believes the 30-year-old must prove himself to Emery.

“You look at how he’s used or not used Mesut Ozil over the last few weeks,” Hislop said of Emery.

“Now, I’m not sure what prompted this, a lot has been written about it.

“A lot has been speculated about Ozil and injury, whether he would have featured or not (if he was fit).

“But when you see Arsenal perform as they did (against Tottenham), the bigger question now is how does Ozil get himself back into the squad?

“As Unai Emery’s already shown, ‘if you cut across my authority, I’m taking full charge here’.”

Arsenal have not won League game at Old Trafford since 2006 and Hislop feels that could change tonight.

“Not just when you look at the form that Arsenal come into this game in, but you look at the problems that Manchester United have,” Hislop added.

“Injury issues as well for Jose Mourinho to deal with, if things weren’t bad enough.

“I think Arsenal go to Old Trafford and win this game.

“I think probably comfortably at 2-0.”
