Newcastle United planning a smart swoop for Danny Welbeck

Ever thought, Danny Welback donning the jersey of Newcastle United. From the time Danny Welback’s news of leaving Arsenal came into being, the cunning Rafa Benitez has made shrewd fondling in order to acquire the striker.

With Welback’s contract expiring by the end of this season, a free transfer is up for the grabs and Rafa Benitez is ready to place all his bets. Newcastle United and Danny match each other’s requirement with Newcastle’s demand being supplied by Welback’s abilities.

I would say that Welback ticks all the boxes to join a team that finished yet again in mid-table. The cash-crunched Newcastle United who badly need a striker who can score 20 odd goals to get them a top 10 finish can tap on Welback to perform the needful.

The injury-ravaged striker has not done as expected playing for United or Arsenal with his tally of goals not reaching to 10 in any season. However, the sweet-sounding to Newcastle’s Board will be his availability for a free transfer that may have a magnetic reaction on Welback.

How would Welback fit in Newcastle’s squad?

Rafa Benitez has always known to play master-stroke. This time it seems like the intellectually gifted Manager will make the real Danny Welback as we’ve known theoretically;smart, talented and skilful. But the question remains, How?

The kind of football that Newcastle play is often ritualised as counter-attacking one, the same that goes well for Danny Welback. The Englishman who loves to be on his own and a lone striker will fit in well to Newcastle because of Benitez’ requirement of a sole striker.

As a soldier, Welback can single-handedly skin past oppositions defence either by running into the box from wide left or by bewildering them with his skills. His strength is his pace which will also help not-so-fast Newcastle to gain speed.

The significant requirement of all is a goal-scoring spree which Welback has qualities of, although he hasn’t proved yet. That doesn’t mean, he can’t. Newcastle badly need a striker who can win them games singlehandedly which they did not find in Perez or Rondon who when combined scored only 23 goals, 1 more than Salah alone.

The story of Rafa Benitez and Danny Welback is pleasing to the ears, but will it be the same for the eyes?
