In-demand Arsenal target wants Lyon stay

HoussemAouar

Arsenal are reportedly considering to bring Lyon attacking midfielder Houssem Aouar but the highly-rated 20-year-old wants to develop further at Lyon.

The 20-year-old midfielder with number 8 on his back has been a key player for Lyon since breaking into the side in April 2017. This development from a young age seems to have impressed several European clubs too.

Arsenal and Barcelona have been tracking the youngster from sometime now, while he rejected a move to Liverpool before signing his first professional contract with Lyon.

France Football reports, Arsenal Boss Unai Emery is a big fan of attacking midfielder and is looking for Houssem Aouar as Aaron Ramsey replacement. The future of Aaron Ramsey at Emirates lies uncertain but what we do know is that the Welshman is set to leave Arsenal in the summer, with the move in January looking quite unlikely.

While a move away for Lyon superstar from the Ligue 1 looks a real possibility in the future but the midfielder says he would like to remain with his boyhood club even though some of Europe’s big clubs are looking at him:

“Since I was a kid, I wanted to play for Lyon. Even if there were approaches, my childhood dream came before everything.

“I was born in Lyon, that’s where I grew up, saw my elders succeed.

“I play for the club of my heart, so I’m in my dream.”

On linked with a move to Anfield over the last year, Aouar said:

“I’m well protected with my family. It’s nice to hear, but I’m not getting carried away. My feet are firmly on the ground. I’ve only got a good half-season behind me, and I have everything to develop at Lyon.”

Manchester City and Chelsea are also looking at potential move for Houssem Aouar
