Manchester United vs Arsenal: Preview | Premier League 2020/21

manchesterunited-vs-arsenal

Manchester United host Arsenal at the iconic Old Trafford Stadium on Sunday as both teams are in desperate need of the three points up on offer.

Both teams are currently sitting in the second half of the table, Arsenal at 11th and United at 15th separated by just two points.

Manchester United have notched up impressive victories over Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig in the Champions League while holding Chelsea to a 0-0 draw in the league in the past two weeks.

Arsenal have suffered back to back defeats in the league at the hands of Manchester City and Leicester as they have now lost three of their previous league fixtures.

The Gunners have failed to capitalize on their perfect start to the season and seem to be struggling with the busy fixture schedule with several key players out of form.

When and Where?

Team News

Anthony Martial will complete his three-match suspension following the red-card he received in the league against Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month.

Summer signing Alex Telles will be unavailable for this fixture as Solskjaer revealed on Wednesday that the Brazilian had tested positive for the coronavirus. Defender Eric Bailley and midfielder Jesse Lingard are expected to sit on the sidelines for the next few weeks recovering from injuries.

Mikel Arteta rested several players for their midweek fixture against Dundalk and regulars Bernd Leno, Aubameyang and Willian are expected to come back into the team against Manchester United. In defence, David Luiz, Rob Holding and Calum Chambers are all on the treatment table and will be unavailable for this fixture.

Pierre Emrick-Aubameyang’s form has been a concern as the Gabon international has scored just one goal in the league so far. With Willian coming back into the side after recovering from a calf-injury, Lacazette will be expected to move back to the bench making up a front three of Buakyo Saka, Aubameyang and Willian.
