Arsenal’s outing against Manchester City singularly smashed all the positivity about footballing activities returning back. It’s not only about the result at the final whistle but also about consequences of playing competitive after three months break.

Mikel Arteta lost Granit Xhaka in under five minutes which was followed by dismissal of Pablo Mari due to suspected ankle ligament problem which will keep the Spaniard sidelined for the rest of the season.

The night was about to get worse for the Gunners, as Mari’s substitute David Luiz was shown the red carpet early in the second half.

Which makes resources scarce for Mikel Arteta in the defence, as Pablo Mari and Calum Chambers are ruled out of the season, it will take couple of weeks for Sokratis to be nursed back into full fitness and Rob Holding has not featured since January. Which leaves only Shkodran Mustafi as the only fully fit defender.

Mikel Arteta has reportedly included Zech Medley in the squad for their trip to Brighton on Saturday.

While Holding the only senior most defender available after Mustafi and is favorite to start at Amex stadium with Medley making the bench.

Given how many youngsters has impressed for Arsenal, it would be massive to watch another one of boyhood Arsenal fan impressing.

Medley has three appearances for Arsenal, his last bow for the Gunners came in 2018-19 FA Cup third round when he was given a run from the bench against Blackpool but Zech is yet to feature this season though the starlet mamde the squad for 2-2 draw away to Standard Liege in the Europa League.
