KEY CLASH: Matteo Guendouzi vs Scott McTominay | Arsenal vs Manchester United

Two young players who before the dawn of this season were hardly in the eyes of few; Matteo Guendouzi and Scott Mctominay have now become the sight for many. While the Frenchman has taken into life under Emery since and before the start of the season, Mctominay has been appraised by good sum following his match winning performance against PSG.

The McTominay has come in the absence of injured Nemanja Matic and has taken the claim pretty well. The defensive midfielder saw a long way through in the game against PSG, completing all the passes in final third and winning all the tackles.

A lot of talk has been done about the young talent produced by Manchester United academy with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Tahith Chong and Andreas Pereira getting recognition but many seem to undermine the talent of Scottish midfielder.

Mctominay did not get focused in United’s days under Mourinho but Ole has scrutinised the given talent very carefully and squeezed Scott pretty well. Since the game against Liverpool, Ole has been one to support and shoulder the Matic replacement even so that he compared the youngster with Darren Fletcher.

“I learned a lot about Scott McTominay, who I’ve been waiting to give a chance in a more attacking role, he can run into the box, is dangerous, he was a Darren Fletcher today for us,” he said.

For the Gunners, the midfield has been an unexpected gift of two young and cheap buys, Guendouzi and Torreira. With the latter suspended for the game, the hammer has finally fallen on Guendouzi to sell his talent against Arsenal’s biggest rival.

The Frenchman keeps on delivering for the Gunners, so much that the lesser you ask from the youngster, the more he gifts. Emery’s Player of A team and probably the best youngster of the Premier League if not whole Europe, Matteo has proven circumspectly valuable serving as a role of midfielder.

He can run through oppositions defence or even sprint back and stop their counters. Best to hear it from himself on how has he been a success.

Guendouzi is in contention for PFA’s Young Player of the year

“I’m a young player, I have a lot of energy,” Guendouzi told football.london.

“I run for my team-mates. I fight for my team.

“I play with my heart. I give in every match 150 per cent. I give everything.”

“That’s the secret, I suppose.”

If both Mctominay and Guendouzi continue the same path they have been doing all season, the limelight will fall upon the battle of two young, energetic and undying defensive midfielders who are ready to give it all for their club and for those 3 points.
